Typo II is a elementary course in typographic design at SRH University Berlin. It understands typography as a creative and communicative system and teaches the interplay between meaning, form and effect in design systems.
Together with Clemens Schah Sedi, we developed a process-oriented, experimental course that is based on systematic work on examination of rhythm, contrast and composition. The results collected here show how exploration, transformation and combination give rise to independent typographic systems, with rules and experimentation working together on an equal footing. This collection is intended as an archive of the knowledge gained and will serve as inspiration for new visual experiments throughout the year.
